Bob Burke helps an operator by rerailing a centipede tender behind Big Boy 4011. The man at the far end of the aisle is headed down the one ramp off the 17 inch high riser from which the entire upper level of the mushroom benches are worked. Over head are the twin heat pumps that provide cooling for the building. The freon is condensed in a network of 10 underground wells each nearly 200 feet deep under the front parking lot. This goeothermal cooling system is much more efficient using the constant 72 degree F under ground temperature as a heat sink as opposed to the 106 degree F air on hot Arizona summer days.
